GRIDSTOR PROMOTES DANIEL DEDRICK TO CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER, CREATING NEW ROLE TO DRIVE GROWTH

Dedrick steps into the role with more than two decades of leadership in power sector engineering, technology, and project development

PORTLAND, Ore. April 10, 2025 – GridStor, a developer and operator of utility-scale battery energy storage systems, announced today that Daniel Dedrick has been appointed as the company’s chief technology officer (CTO). Dedrick has more than 20 years of experience leading power system engineering, technology development, and project development across multiple energy technologies. He joined GridStor in 2022 and served most recently as the company’s senior vice president of engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) and technical operations.

“Daniel is one of the best technical strategists in the U.S. energy storage industry today,” said Chris Taylor, CEO of GridStor. “Success in battery storage depends on a breadth of capabilities–skillfully navigating procurement and interconnection processes, managing project construction, and optimizing industrial systems. Daniel’s expanded role on our leadership team reflects GridStor’s increasing focus on converting our growing project pipeline into a competitive set of operating assets.”

As CTO, Dedrick will continue reporting to Taylor and will drive the company’s technology strategy in alignment with business goals. He will oversee technical operations associated with GridStor’s fast-growing portfolio of battery energy storage systems, including transmission and interconnection, EPC, project operations, and asset management. Tony Song, GridStor’s Vice President of EPC, will step into the role of Senior Vice President of EPC and add oversight of the company’s project construction activities to his responsibilities for project engineering and technology selection.

“I look forward to taking GridStor’s technical work to the next stage as we transition to building and operating battery storage facilities in multiple regions,” said Dedrick. “Now more than ever it takes a lot of experience to manage the uncertainties of large power project construction and operations. With GridStor’s strong financial backing, best-in-class procurement platform, and seasoned team, I’m confident in our ability to deliver timely, cost-effective battery storage facilities to load-serving entities and data center customers.”

Prior to joining GridStor, Dedrick headed the EPC services and major equipment team at Clearway Energy Group. His project leadership includes over 3 GWh of energy storage facilities and 2 GW of solar power projects. Dedrick holds a Master of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.
